What is microneedling?

Microneedling technology uses multiple needles that vertically pierce the skin with an automatic vibrating function. As the device is moved across the skin’s surface, natural collagen production is stimulated while allowing fine channels to be created in the skin.

The channels created can carry up to 80% more topical nutrients into the skin. They allow treatment to be delivered deep into the skin’s fibroblasts to feed the underlying skin cells found in the dermis and basal layer. You can expect the following during and after a treatment session:

• Your skin is cleansed and a topical numbing cream is applied prior to treatment to ensure comfort
• Hyaluronic serum is applied to the skin and appropriate treatment depth is set based on your unique skin needs
• The provider will use the Collagen PIN device to glide across the treatment area to create the thousands of microscopic channels to stimulate the healing process
• Your skin will look pink or moderately red after treatment, and you’ll go home with a care plan and products that will help ease the symptoms
• Most patients will start to see results after one treatment a few days after or about 1-2 weeks later; your results will depend on your individual skin conditions

The repair process begins almost immediately after treatment. The fibroblasts (cells that synthesize new collagen) are active for up to a year after just one Collagen PIN treatment. This is considered a no downtime treatment as any redness usually subsides within 24 hours.

How long should it take before I see results?
Typically, you will see results after the first treatment. Lasting and more significant results will occur after 4 to 6 treatments (spaced 4-6 weeks apart). Your skin will continue to improve over the next 6-12 months after a course of treatments and when combined with the recommended post treatment care.

Is the treatment painful?
For minimum needle depths treatments are painless. For treatments over 0.5mm deep, a topical anaesthesia cream is applied for 45 – 60 minutes before treatment and will render the treatments completely pain-free.

Is there any downtime after treatments?
Generally no, but you may experience facial redness for 12-48 hours after the treatment. Most people are able to return to normal daily activities immediately after the treatment.

How soon after filler injections can I have a treatment?
It’s recommended to leave at least 4 weeks after filler injections so that any post treatment bruising from the fillers can settle. Or have your Needling treatment 2 – 3 weeks before having fillers injected.
